Historic fairground rides for sale
A friend is reducing his collection and is selling two important vintage juvenile fairground rides.
1: Pullens 1906 Dobby set. The photo is with fibreglass peacock cars which it is tested with. Price £32,000 or by substituting 2 mules and 2 pigs for 2 good fiberglass horses and 2 cockerels £23,000. The genuine horses and cockerels were carved by C.J Spooner and the ride was owned by the Pullen family for 100 years. The rounding boards, shields and shutters are painted by Katie Morgan of Winchcombe. He would also like to sell one or two of the genuine chariots again carved by Spooner for £5,000 each.
2: Wroots Flying Pigs. Thought to be the best Dobby set left in this country, also with a current test certificate. Built by Halstead in 1906 for Lyle Wroot. The wheel hubs of the cars have Halsteads name on. Cars were first fitted on fairground rides in 1905. The 12 pigs are carved by Andersons of Bristol and gallop on cranks. It comes complete with a 12 foot Ifor Williams trailer on which it packs. Price £40,000.
The rides are not too far from our base in Hay - they're in Worcestershire. Please contact Laurence Harper for more information, but, as they say, no time wasters please! Details are: Laurence Harper 01684 568723 or 07770750370. Email: harpersmalvern@hotmail.com.
