Penny machines
The collection. Past and present
I have owned rather a lot of slot machines over the years. I once bought up almost the entire stock of an amusement arcade in Weymouth which was modernising! Most of the machines have gone now, and the present collection is just about 20 machines. These pictures show some of the machines I still have and some that have moved on.
There are a surprising number of these still around. Probably 1930s. No longer in the collection. | Bryan's clock in its best form - 24 win plus jackpot... |

My lovely Brooklands Totalisator - a early 1950s Boland recasing of a Mills mechanism. | A French allwin-type machine, probably around 1920. Manufacturer uncertain - may be Bussoz. Works on old pennies and delivers tokens from hand-filled tubed. Fine construction and mechanism. |
This is obviously hand-drawn/painted, but I have seen other nearly identical items so presumably a number were imported at the same time. | Manufacturer unknown. Probably 1920s or 1930s. No longer in the collection. |
Manufactured by Spencer Bolland around 1960. Several variants are known, but probably only a few were made, and the variants were prototype experiments rather than psrt of full manufacturing runs. |
