Exciting finds...

Just bought these two wonderful machines.

The smaller is a Rockola Jigsaw from 1933. It was a major advance in pinballs, as it included a playfield animation to add "playability". The player has ten balls to fire into a selection of holes, each of which completes one or more pieces of the jigsaw. Great fun to play, and a machine I've wanted for a long time, so very pleased to have this lovely example in excellent condition, complete with its original backflash. This is a totally mechanical machine, and an example of brilliant design.

The second larger machine (about 4' x 2') is a Stoner Turf Champ pinball from 1936. This was one of the first pinball machine which could be used for gambling, and was therefore banned in many areas, and there are very few of them around (I don't know of any others surviving in the UK, but I'm sure somebody will correct me on this!). 'Turf Champ' was advertised as a "one shot - 5 balls" game. Five balls are shot simultaneously so as to simulate a horse race. Up to 7 selections could be made prior to shooting the balls into play. Each selection cost 5 cents, therefore one play could cost up to 35 cents. Odds were randomly selected by the machine. This example was converted on original importation to work on the old threepenny piece. Really looking forward to setting it up and getting to play on it.
